The Spirit
Wattle & Myrtle Vodka β our native botanical vodka. Wattleseed, lemon myrtle, and Australian bush spirit in a clean base. It''s vodka that actually tastes like somewhere.
What You'll Need β serves 1
- 45 ml Wattle & Myrtle Vodka
- 20 ml triple sec (Cointreau)
- 20 ml fresh lime juice
- 30 ml cranberry juice
- Dried wattle blossom or orange peel (garnish)
- Ice
Glass: Chilled martini glass
Garnish: Flamed orange peel or dried wattle blossom
Instructions
- Combine all ingredients in a shaker over ice.
- Shake until the shaker is very cold β 10β12 seconds.
- Strain into a chilled martini glass.
- For the garnish: hold a lit match about 5cm above the glass and quickly squeeze a strip of orange peel through the flame over the drink β the oils ignite briefly and caramelise onto the surface. Or simply use dried wattle blossom for an Australian touch.
The Story
The Cosmopolitan is a 1990s icon that deserves better than standard vodka. Wattle & Myrtle Vodka brings wattleseed''s nutty, almost coffee-like notes and lemon myrtle''s clean citrus to the classic cranberry-lime framework. It''s still recognisably a Cosmo β it''s just more interesting now.
> The flamed peel is optional but genuinely impressive at dinner parties. Practice once before performing.
