Bushman's Gimlet

The Spirit

Bushmans Gin β€” loaded with native Australian botanicals. Earthy, slightly resinous, with a clean finish that makes citrus sing alongside it.

What You'll Need β€” serves 1

  • 60 ml Bushmans Gin
  • 25 ml fresh lime juice β€” always fresh, never bottled
  • 15 ml honey syrup (2 parts honey dissolved in 1 part warm water)
  • Half a wheel of cucumber
  • Ice

Glass: Chilled coupe

Garnish: Cucumber wheel, fresh herbs optional

Instructions

  1. Muddle the cucumber gently in the base of a cocktail shaker β€” press it once or twice, don''t pulverise. You want flavour, not mush.
  2. Add gin, lime juice and honey syrup.
  3. Fill the shaker with ice and shake hard for 10–12 seconds.
  4. Double-strain through both your shaker''s strainer and a fine mesh sieve into a chilled coupe.
  5. Float a thin cucumber wheel on the surface.

The Story

A Gimlet is gin, citrus, sweetener β€” that''s it. There''s nowhere to hide a mediocre spirit in a drink this simple, which is exactly why Bushmans Gin is the right choice. The native botanicals add an earthy complexity that elevates the whole thing past "just a sour gin cocktail" into something genuinely interesting.

Honey syrup instead of simple syrup rounds the edges in a way that works with Bushmans'' character.

> Chill your coupe in the freezer for 5 minutes before pouring. It matters.
